Above half an acre, the question changes from "can it find the edges" to "can it keep up." A big lawn needs a wide cutting deck, fast recharging and enough zones to break the property into manageable pieces. These three mowers are built for it.

Best for open acreage

1. Segway Navimow X4 Series

X430 (1 acre): $2,499 · X450 (1.5 acres): $2,999

The X450 is rated for 1.5 acres, the most of any mower here, and the X430 covers a full acre. Both cut a 17 in swath and recharge in about 90 minutes, which matters more than battery size when a lawn needs several passes. On an open lot with clear sky, its network RTK and camera navigation is a strong combination.

2. Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD

The LUBA 3 AWD 5000 covers 1.25 acres and fuses LiDAR, network RTK and cameras. On large properties with tree lines, outbuildings and fences, that fusion is the safest bet for staying on the map. The 3000 model handles 0.75 acre for $500 less.

3. Dreame A3 AWD Pro

2500: $1,699.99 sale ($3,099.99 list) · 3500: $2,599.99 · 5000: $2,999.99

The A3 AWD Pro 5000 covers 1.2 acres at $2,999.99, with a 15.8 in cut and an 80% slope rating. It navigates with 3D LiDAR and cameras rather than satellites, so it doesn't need an antenna. Big hilly properties with plenty of landmarks suit it well.

360° 3D LiDAR + dual-camera AI vision, no RTK

Why we like it

  • 80% slopes, all-wheel drive
  • No antenna required
  • Edge cutting reduces trimming

Keep in mind

  • No RTK fallback on wide-open fields
  • Battery and coverage scale with price: the 2500 covers 0.62 acre

Tips for big properties

  • Size by real coverage per charge. The X430 lists up to 9,600 sq ft per charge. A 1-acre lawn (43,560 sq ft) needs several charge cycles, so schedule mowing across the week rather than in one session.
  • Split into zones. Separate front, back and side areas so each gets its own schedule and cutting height.
  • Place the dock centrally. Shorter trips back to charge mean more time mowing.
  • Use 4G. On a large lot the mower is often out of Wi-Fi range. Cellular keeps remote control and theft tracking working anywhere on the property.
  • Over 1.5 acres, plan on two mowers or keep a rider for the far field. Our robot vs riding mower comparison covers the trade-off.

Questions

Can one robot mower handle two acres?

Not among current residential models we track. The largest rating here is 1.5 acres (Navimow X450). For more, run two units on separate zones or mow the overflow with a rider.

Do I need the biggest model for my acreage?

Buy for about 30% more than your measured lawn. A 0.7-acre lawn fits the LUBA 3 5000 or Navimow X430 comfortably, while the LUBA 3 3000 would be at its limit.
