Our verdict

Segway Navimow X4 Series

The Navimow X4 is the mower to beat for large, open properties. The X450 covers 1.5 acres, the X430 covers one, and both recharge in about 90 minutes. Its 84% slope rating and all-wheel drive handle rough ground. Lots dominated by trees are better served by the LUBA 3.

Buy it ifYou have a large, mostly open lawn, or steep ground over a big area.
Skip it ifMost of your lawn sits under trees, or it's under half an acre.

Built for coverage

A 17 in dual-disc deck with 12 pivoting blades, travel speed up to 2.6 ft per second and up to 9,600 sq ft per charge make the X430 the most productive mower on our list. Twin 180W motors and 224W charging get it back on the lawn in 90 minutes or less.

Cutting height runs from 0.75 to 4 in in quarter-inch steps, so it suits both short warm-season grass and tall fescue.

Tri-frequency network RTK provides satellite positioning without an antenna (one is included for weak-signal areas). 360° visual SLAM and AI vision handle obstacle avoidance, recognizing more than 200 obstacle types. Auto Mapping builds the first map for you, and GeoSketch lets you edit it on a real-scene image.

Terrain

Front-wheel steering, all-wheel drive and dual suspension give it an 84% (40°) slope rating and 2.8 in obstacle crossing on the X430. That's steeper than most riding mowers can safely handle.

How we evaluated it

This review is based on Segway Navimow's published specifications, independent coverage and owner reports, compared against the other mowers we track. We'll add hands-on results as our testing progresses.

Questions

Does the X4 need an antenna?

Network RTK works without one in most areas. Segway includes a GNSS antenna for yards where cellular corrections aren't enough.

How loud is it?

Segway rates it under 68 dB(A), louder than the small i-series mowers because of the larger deck, but far quieter than a gas mower.
